DB Schenker : Efficient transport solution for shipments across Europe
By ship, rail, and truck: Seamless connection between Austria and Finland lowers CO2 emissions • Blum, the Austrian-based market leader for furniture fittings, relies on the environmentally friendly transport solution
(Röthis/Helsinki, March 17, 2017) The intermodal transport solution from DB Schenker not only moves shipments from Austria to Finland quickly and easily; it’s also environmentally friendly. The solution’s combination of transport by ship, truck, and rail exploits the specific strengths of each transport mode and has been proven to reduce CO2 emissions.
Blum in Austria has lowered CO2 emissions by more than 100 tons
The Austrian-based global market leader for furniture fittings has been relying on the expertise of the international logistics provider since 2011. This strategy has paid off, as DB Schenker’s intermodal transport solution has allowed the company to reduce its CO2 emissions by around 25 percent. “The process is outstanding, and it’s also good for the environment,” says Ingmar Blum, Head of Transport Logistics at Julius Blum GmbH in Höchst. “We’ve already lowered our CO2 emissions by 106 tons as compared to the conventional transport route to Finland.”
Individual transport solutions – from anywhere in Austria to Finland
Individual and flexible arrangements can be made for consignments to be picked up anywhere in Austria from Monday through Thursday. Goods are then transported by truck, rail, and ship to Helsinki in the fastest way possible. After they arrive, they are sent by truck for final delivery anywhere in Finland. A total of 260 shipments have already been sent to Finland using the intermodal solution.
